I've been thinking about sci-fi and fantasy heroes recently. Specifically how they are often the "chosen one" or at the very least special. The stories revolve around special people with special powers that make them the best or the most amazing or the hero. I feel like this gives a false sense to young people that you have to be special to make a difference in the world. We need more stories about normal people stepping up and being the hero. I feel like the more we see normal people deciding to step up and do things in our media, the more young people will feel empowered to step up and shape their world. You don't have to be special to save the world, you just need to do it.
